Yoga
Ancient science of well-being, made simple for daily life.
At AWGP, yoga is far more than physical exercise. As Gurudev Pandit Shriram Sharma Acharya taught, yoga is the science of uniting body, mind, and soul — a practical path the rishis gave us for a healthy, balanced, and purposeful life. Here in Bengaluru we follow that approach, with regular guided sessions open to everyone.
The AWGP perspective on yoga
The rishis of the Vedic age gave humanity a precious science of well-being. Over time, as life grew more materialistic and hurried, much of it was forgotten. Gurudev saw that modern people need this wisdom more than ever — but in a form that fits a busy life. He taught that true yoga works on all three layers of a person at once: the body is rejuvenated by asana, the mind is strengthened by pranayama (breath), and the inner self is awakened by mantra. Yoga, in this view, is not about difficult postures or escape from the world — it is a daily practice of bringing one's whole being into balance, so that health, calm, and clarity become natural.
Pragya Yoga — Gurudev's gift to the modern seeker
Drawing on the legacy of Maharishi Patanjali, Gurudev created a simple, complete practice for everyday people and named it Pragya Yoga. It is a flowing sequence of sixteen gentle asanas, each performed in rhythm with one syllable of the Gayatri Mantra and steady, deep breathing. Beginning standing — meditating for a moment on the light of Savita (the rising sun) — the practitioner moves through the sequence with full inner engagement. In this single practice, asana cares for the body, the breath works as pranayama, and the mantra carries the mind inward — so it gently touches all three bodies (physical, subtle, and causal) at once. One round takes only about ten minutes, needs no equipment or cost, and suits every age. Practised sincerely along with Gayatri meditation, it offers the benefits of Ashtang Yoga in an accessible form.
- A sequence of sixteen gentle asanas synced to the syllables of the Gayatri Mantra
- Asana, breath, and mantra together — caring for body, mind, and inner self
- About ten minutes a round · no equipment · suitable for every age
